My First Plane Ride

Riding a plane for the first time? Here are some tips and instructions on how to work your way inside the airport and in to the plane!
As for my first time, it was the old and cold Domestic Philippine Airport. The waiting area is really cold for me, good thing I brought a jacket even if we are bound to Palawan and its sunny islands.

DO NOT FORGET OR LOSE YOUR TICKET (or E-Ticket)! Bring at least two IDs. You will present these items to the guard before you can enter the airport.

1. Look for your airline booth or counter. Try looking at the logo of the airline you’re going to board, but make sure that the booth you are heading to have the same destination and flight number written in your e-ticket. In this station your e-ticket will be replaced by the real ticket of the airlines, also your baggage will be weighted. Make sure you do not over pack. You will be charged extra for each excess kilo. After weighing, your bag will get a sticker as well as your ticket. This will be checked before leaving the airport you are bound to so don’t lose it.

Tips: Best that you have a bag tag. It is definitely possible that the bag you are carrying has an identical twin in the airport, that’s why you definitely have to put something to distinguish it as your own. If you are planning NOT to hand carry, use a small lock for your bag. Most of the time staff transferring the bags from airplane to the pick-up point are not cautious in handling your bags. Best you make sure nothing is lost.

2. Go to the next station here you will have to pay for your boarding pass. We paid P250 each going to Palawan. I’m not sure if the fee is the same for all destinations. Just bring money! It will be best to check it in the internet or call your airline before hand to be prepared. This boarding pass is where you can see the gate number and seat number of your flight.

3. Head towards the next station where you will be asked to take off your shoes, belts, cell phones, key chains or wallets and pass it through x-ray machines.

4. A nearby station heading to the waiting area will get attachments from you boarding pass.

5. After all that, take a seat and relax while waiting for your flight. Always understand the announcements made by the airport staff. Wait for your flight to be called out, the airline staff will ask the elderly and disabled passengers to go first so just queue and wait for your turn. The staff will check your ticket and boarding pass before you can finally ride the plane.

6. Inside the plane if you are not sure where your seat number is, you can ask the flight attendants and they will be willing to help you out. Once seated, listen and follow instructions. This is very important especially for first timers.

7. And finally, PRAY BEFORE THE TAKE-OFF. Enjoy your first plane ride and Bon Voyage!
